About Dr. Jack Gunter

Dr. Jack P. Gunter

“Reputation has always been important to me and as far back as I can remember. Once I decided to become a physician, I learned that most specialties in medicine didn’t have a distinct cause and effect. With plastic surgery you could always tell if you did good or not and get a sense of accomplishment. The fact that I am viewed with favor by my patients and colleagues means the world to me.”

Dr. Gunter has spent his career pioneering open rhinoplasty techniques for correcting secondary nasal deformities—those patients whose first rhinoplasty surgery failed either functionally or aesthetically.“Primary nose reshaping is a difficult operation and at the risk of sounding disparaging, some surgeons just don’t do it.  Experience and repetition is everything if you want predictive results.”

Dr. Jack P. Gunter is recognized as one of the premier plastic surgeons in the world, and his expertise in rhinoplasty is virtually unparalleled. He is a highly sought-after guest lecturer and surgeon, with colleagues from as far as Russia, China, Japan, and Australia coming to Dallas to observe his techniques. Each year Dr. Gunter chairs the Dallas Rhinoplasty Symposium, an annual event that he founded. The Symposium teaches residents and private practitioners how to perform the latest surgical techniques in rhinoplasty. The event attracts more than 200 participants from around the world each year.

Board certified in both Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gunter has contributed extensively to the advancement of facial plastic surgery. His understanding of both the aesthetic and the functional aspects of his specialty, rhinoplasty, give him rare insight into the procedure.Dr. Gunter is a noted author and expert in all facets of rhinoplasty. Dr Gunter co-edited and published “Dallas Rhinoplasty: Surgery by the Masters, 2nd edition”. This textbook is fast becoming the standard for rhinoplasty texts.
